Cadillac XT5 vs. Lexus RX Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos
The XT5 is a staple of the Cadillac fleet, a versatile SUV that’s built to tackle whatever you throw at it, all while keeping you comfortable. But luxury crossovers are a popular segment, and the XT5 has its share of competitors. One of the most popular of these is the Lexus RX, one of the first luxury crossovers, and still a big part of the Lexus lineup. How does it compare to the XT5? There are some key differences between the two, but for that, we’re going to have to take a closer look.

Since the RX starts off more expensive than the XT5, we’re looking at the Premium Luxury trim of the XT5, so that pricing can be a little closer, making it a bit clearer what you get for your money. Power output is similar, both vehicles get 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, and both come with front-wheel drive, with the option of all-wheel drive. But that doesn’t make them identical, and to start with, you get more space in the XT5. Front legroom is nearly identical, but the difference in rear legroom is enough that you’ll notice. And that legroom doesn’t even come at the expense of cargo space, of which there is a lot more in the XT5. Accessing that cargo is easier in the XT5 too, since a hands-free power liftgate comes standard.

A big plus of the XT5 is that Cadillac understands the importance of a premium stereo, and the 14-speaker Bose system in the XT5 comes standard. For a branded premium system in the RX, you need to move up to a trim that costs about $10,000 more. You’ll find a similar story with leather seat upholstery, or a heated steering wheel, both of which are standard on this trim of the XT5, but aren’t even options on the RX 350. In fact, even when we aren’t talking about standard features, Cadillac is very good about offering à la carte options. So, for example, if you want ventilated front seats or heated back seats, you have the option to just select those on the order form, but almost all equipment changes on the RX, or any Lexus, also require a trim change, making it difficult and sometimes quite expensive to get the combination of features that you want. Lastly, both vehicles come with emergency roadside assistance coverage, but the XT5 comes with significantly more of it.

Cadillac XT5

Winner – Cadillac XT5

The XT5 is a mainstay for a reason. The versatility, above-average amount of space for the segment, and excellent value for money make it a popular choice. While the RX gets some things right, it’s not quite the complete package that you get from the XT5, especially when you consider how much easier it is to dial in the options you want on the Cadillac. As with any luxury experience, it’s best to experience the XT5 in person to get the whole picture. Let Cadillac of Easton help you configure your XT5.
