Cadillac Safety Features Overview

Cadillac Safety Features - Germain Cadillac of Easton

Cadillac is a leader in safety, including advanced safety technology. With all of the exciting luxury and performance features found on Cadillac vehicles, it’s sometimes easy to overlook safety, but that doesn’t mean that Cadillac has overlooked these features, and they’re as impressive as anything else about Cadillac vehicles. In fact, Cadillac safety features are so extensive that there might be some that you don’t know about. Read on for a better picture of what Cadillac offers.

Cadillac Passive Safety Features

There was a time when all safety features on vehicles were passive, and while newer active systems might grab more attention, these passive systems are still incredibly important. Many of these features have proven so effective that they’re now required by law. Cadillac does an exceptionally good job with these features, same as the more advanced ones.

  • Seat Belts – A proven effective feature, one of the first widespread safety features introduced on vehicles. With Cadillac, the Buckle to Drive feature is included as well, preventing the vehicle from being shifted out of Park if the driver’s belt isn’t buckled.
  • Airbags – Cadillac goes above and beyond with these, offering far more coverage than is legally required.
  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) – Prevents skidding while braking, even on slippery surfaces. ABS significantly improves braking distance in a wide variety of situations.
  • Safety Cage Construction – Advanced design techniques allow the vehicle to absorb and redirect the energy of a crash, in a way that protects occupants and minimizes cabin intrusion.

Cadillac Driver Assistance Features

The only thing safer than a vehicle built to withstand a crash is one that doesn’t crash in the first place. That’s a lot easier to achieve with the Cadillac suite of driver assistance features. These are advanced enough that they don’t just help mitigate serious crashes, but also low-speed bumps and dings, the kind that happen most when pulling in or out of a parking space or navigating a narrow road.

  • Automatic Braking – In the event that you don’t have time to react or can’t see when something is in your path, the vehicle can apply the brakes for you. These systems work both in Drive and in Reverse.
  • Blind Zone Assist – Informs you when an obstacle is in your blind zone, and can even steer you away from it if necessary.
  • Surround Vision – A top-down view of the area surrounding your vehicle on all sides, which makes parking significantly easier.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control – Automatically maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you when cruise control is engaged.

Cadillac Night Vision

Cadillac was the first manufacturer to introduce automotive night vision, all the way back in 2000. And while other manufacturers race to catch up, Cadillac has been improving the system. Night Vision gives you a thermal image of the road in front of you that extends well beyond the range of even the impressive LED headlights on Cadillac vehicles. The system can also detect things like pedestrians or large animals in the road ahead of you.

Cadillac Super Cruise

While safety isn’t the whole purpose of Super Cruise, it is certainly a safe way to travel. Super Cruise is a hands-free cruise control system that allows you to sit back and relax while the vehicle drives for you. Thanks to a system of cameras, lidar, GPS, and other sensors, Super Cruise is able to monitor road conditions constantly and react in a fraction of a second.
