A major strength of Super Cruise is that it has more than 600,000 miles of roads in the US and Canada pre-mapped and GPS-linked. So the system already knows where bends, lane merges, and toll booths are located, freeing up computing power for dealing with traffic. The first step to using Super Cruise is to activate adaptive cruise control. Once the system deems conditions to be safe and confirms that you are on a compatible road, a white Super Cruise icon will appear on your instrument cluster. You can then press the Super Cruise button, and when you see the green light bar on the steering wheel turn on, you can take your hands off.
